Ultralytics' Highlights at WeAreDevelopers World Congress 2024

Join us as we revisit the key highlights of ourtime at WeAreDevelopers World Congress 2024 in Berlin! From satellite events to live demos, we connected with AI enthusiasts, showcased YOLOv8’s real-time capabilities, and so much more!

At Ultralytics, we are committed to staying at the forefront of AI innovation. That’s why participating in events like the WeAreDevelopers World Congress is essential to our mission. This year it took place in Berlin, bringing together over 20,000 developers (including 600 speakers), startups, and industry leaders, with cutting-edge sessions across AI, machine learning, and software development. We had the privilege of being a key part of this technology hub alongside our Intel partners.

Intel AI Summit: Day 0

Before the main conference kicked off, Ultralytics was invited to the Intel AI Summit, a satellite event organized by Intel on July 17th, 2024. Held at the spectacular Alte Münzevenue in Berlin, the event was part of Intel’s ongoing efforts to showcase how their software and hardware portfolio accelerates AI solutions. Industry leaders including Stephan Gillich, Head of EMEA at Intel's Center of Excellence, and Karin Janina Schweizer, Director of Azure Digital & Application Innovation at Microsoft Germany, gave key presentations on how Intel and its partners are pushing the boundaries of AI.

In the second half of the event, Ultralytics took the stage as Francesco Mattioli, our Machine Learning Engineer, showcased Ultralytics YOLOv8’s real-time capabilities with a live demo on an iPhone 15 running YOLOv8 at over 30 fps. This presentation, introduced by Ralph de Wargny, Director of Intel Liftoff for Startups, highlighted how our advanced AI models leverage Intel’s hardware to bring unparalleled performance to edge devices.

The event ended with the chance to actively engage with the community. We received valuable feedback from developers and industry experts alike who shared how YOLO was being used in real-world applications like production line defect detection and academic research projects. It was an inspiring exchange that opened up not only exchange of ideas but the possibility of new collaboration and partnership.

Main Event Highlights

Ultralytics’ attendance continued during the two-day WeAreDevelopers World Congress hosted by Intel on the 17th - 19th July 2024. Ultralytics, along with other startups in the Intel Liftoff program, had the chance to showcase their innovations to thousands of attendees. At our booth, we ran a live demo of YOLOv8 on an iPhone 15, using our export-to-CoreML feature to showcase the power of real-time AI running seamlessly on a mobile device.

Throughout the event, we connected with a diverse audience of developers and industry leaders, all utilizing YOLOv8 in fascinating ways, including applications that push the boundaries of edge computing. These conversations highlighted the versatility of our models and their potential to drive AI innovation across sectors. We also strengthened our relationship with companies whose tools are integral to our work, such as Intel, Docker, GitHub, Postman, Google Cloud, AWS, and NVIDIA.

Beyond our booth, the WeAreDevelopers World Congress reflected a sphere of continuous learning. We attended talks and sessions across various stages, absorbing insights into the latest advancements in AI, cloud computing, and developer tools that will shape the future of technology.

Community Engagement and Wrapping Up

As the event drew to a close, we reflected on the meaningful connections and knowledge gained throughout the WeAreDevelopers World Congress. From the Intel AI Summit to our demo booth at the main event, we engaged with a broad spectrum of developers, researchers, and tech enthusiasts who were equally passionate about the future of AI.

The feedback we received on YOLO and our Ultralytics HUB platform was immensely valuable and underscored the impact our solutions are having in both the commercial and academic worlds. The partnerships and collaborations formed during the event leave us excited for the future, as we continue to innovate and expand the boundaries of AI technology.

Looking ahead, we are more committed than ever to driving AI innovation forward. We leave Berlin with a sense of accomplishment and anticipation, ready to build on the momentum gained at the WeAreDevelopers World Congress 2024.
